چکیده
This paper presents a new modelling approach for liquid lubricant behavior in metal forming operations by focusing on the hydrodynamic pressure build-up micro pockets. Theoretical and numerical fundamentals of proposed are introduced, upsetting an aluminum cylinder with artificial pocket is presented as validation case. The framework splits fluid-solid interaction model into computational fluid dynamics solid mechanics part. While part employs Lagrangian finite element flow formulation plastic deformation, built upon set Navier-Stokes equations applying Eulerian method combination Arbitrary Langagian formalism. latter enables displacement based coupling from to fluid. fluid-to-solid enabled formulation’s inherent velocity-pressure characteristics. weak avoids ill-conditioning system matrix makes it possible benefit both meshes.

Well Posed, Stable and Weakly Coupled Fluid Structure Interaction Problems
We investigate problems of fluid structure interaction type and aim for a formulation that leads to a well posed problem and a stable numerical procedure. Our first objective is to investigate if the generally accepted formulations of the FSI problems are the only possible ones. Our second objective is to derive a numerical coupling which is truly stable. To accomplish that we will use a weak c...
متن کاملIterative Solvers for Coupled Fluid-Solid Scattering
The multigrid method is used for coupled fluid-solid scattering discretized by linear finite elements. Numerical results show that using Krylov methods as smoothers allows coarser spaces than with standard smoothers, such as Jacobi and GaussSeidel. Block diagonal preconditioning for the 2 × 2 block diagonal matrix of the coupled system is also considered. Both multigrid and block diagonal preco...
متن کاملSimulating Fluid-Solid Interaction
Though realistic eulerian fluid simulation systems now provide believable movements, straightforward renderable surface representation, and affordable computation costs, they are still unable to deal with non-static objects in a realistic manner. Namely, objects can not have an influence on the fluid and be simultaneously affected by the fluid’s motion. In this paper, a simulation scheme for fl...
متن کاملA smoothed coupled NS/nES-FEM for dynamic analysis of 2D fluid-solid interaction problems
A node-based smoothed finite element method (NS-FEM-T3) using triangular elements and a n-sided polygonal edge-based smoothed FEM (nES-FEM) using polygonal elements is combined to give the smoothed coupled NS/nES-FEM for dynamic analysis of twodimensional (2D) fluid–solid interaction problems based on the pressure–displacement formulation. In the present method, the NS-FEM-T3 is used for the fl...
متن کاملSimulation of Fluid-Solid Interaction
This thesis proposes a way to simulate the interaction of fluids and solids based on the Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics method. The interaction is facilitated by not only representing fluids with particles, but solid objects as well. Linear elastic forces are computed between neighbouring particles to create deformable objects. The animation of fully rigid objects is made possible by introduci...
